What should I expect during newborn care?

Dr. Addo can visit with you before the birth of your baby to let you know what to expect during the latter part of your pregnancy and right after your child’s birth.

He evaluates your new baby soon after it’s born by assessing its weight, length, head circumference, and vital signs. Dr. Addo completes a physical exam, hearing test, heart screening, newborn vaccinations, and if needed, blood tests. He does other newborn screenings to ensure that your baby is healthy or detect problems before they become serious.

He also offers nutritional, health, breastfeeding, and lifestyle education to give you and your baby the best chance to thrive. He answers your questions and discusses concerns you might have about your baby’s health and wellness.

When should I schedule newborn care visits?

Dr. Addo lets you know when to schedule newborn visits at his office based on you and your baby’s personalized needs. He likes to evaluate your newborn soon after birth, within 3-5 days after delivery, at 1 month old, and at 2 and 4 months old.
